Case Study - Jamie Thraves

In todays class we took a look at a local music promo director that made some famous music videos. His name is Jamie Thraves.
Jamie used to make short films at Uni and managed to get into a company called Factory Films using one of these videos that he produced.
He began by shooting 3 low budget films each costing five thousand pounds each.

We learned about how people get to direct music videos.
A commuisioner sends the track to 5-10 directors. The directors then each sumbit a treatment which is unpaid. Whoever has the best treatment is commisioned and then they are paid.
He did the video for two people;
Radiohead - Just

This cost one hundred thousand pounds in budget and was shot in 3 days.
Coldplay - The Scientist

This film cost two thousand pounds in bidget and was shot in three days.

He most recently made the music video for Japanese Popstars - Song for Lisa which cost twenty thousand pounds and was filmed in two days.

His top tips for us were to use the lyrics but not to be too literal and go with the emotion of the song and lyrics.
